Project year: 2014
Project client: City of Perth
---
This Keys concept addresses the city’s current transition and transformation into its next phase. The geometric aesthetic is suggestive of building blocks and reminiscent of pixels which illustrates the digital age. The formal key design in particular is symbolic of a QR code which is commonly used these days to link or act as a portal. The City of Perth crest has been used as an emblem and a simplistic block letter ‘P’ as a branding element.
Going beyond the surface, this design utilises current and new technologies, including computer aided software, aqua jet cutting and various platings; whilst still acknowledging the traditional techniques of hand fabrication as each piece is meticulously hand finished.
The design is strong and contemporary in nature and reflects the emerging trends of our young and vibrant cutting edge city.
